You guys … If blogging were a class, I’d be getting a big fat F as my grade right now. I am so sorry it’s been so long since I’ve posted something new! Three weeks is totally not acceptable. I’ve been enjoying my summer a little too much, and the blog has been pushed aside too many times. I have a few ideas for posts in my head, so I promise I’ll work on getting them down on paper and onto the blog in a timelier manner!
Anywho, back to business. I was inspired to write this post the other day, after I spent almost four hours watching one of my favorite beauty YouTuber’s channel. (Yes, I know that’s completely ridiculous and those are four hours I’ll never get back. I’m OK with that because she’s awesome. Moving on.) After I shared a funny meme on Instagram (follow me if you aren’t already!) about the fact that I spent all that time watching makeup videos, a few friends asked me who I like to follow. Thus the inspiration for this post.
There are SO many beauty bloggers and YouTubers out there that it can be overwhelming to figure out the best ones to follow. That’s why I thought I’d do a round-up of my three absolute favorites; I follow them on pretty much every channel possible … YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, the whole nine yards. In short, these are gals that—in my opinion—any makeup fan definitely should be checking out on the regular!
In no particular order, they are …
Tati Westbrook – Glam Life Guru
Of these three bloggers, I’ve been following Tati for the least amount of time – but she’s risen to the top of my list as one of my most favorite. Her whole YouTube channel is devoted to (quoting directly from her About Me page) “unbiased product reviews, tips, hauls and tutorial videos on drugstore and luxury beauty products five days per week!” Let me just tell you: I’ve discovered some GREAT products based on her reviews. What I love about her is that she tells it like it is; she is totally up-front about what she loves and equally up-front about what she hates. I mean, she devotes entire videos on products she regrets buying. And she’s usually spot on. I also love her series “Beauty Empties” where she shows products she’s run out of. That’s always a sure sign something is going to be great when someone totally runs out of it. Another thing I like about her is that she’s a little older. So many bloggers and vloggers I follow are in their early 20s, and that’s totally not a bad thing. But I definitely can better relate to someone who’s the same age as me. Check her out—you won’t be disappointed! She posts so much content that you can literally get sucked in … for four hours at a time. Ahem.
OK, so if you’re in tune with the beauty world even a little, there’s probably a good chance you know who Jaclyn Hill is. She has more than 2 million YouTube subscribers on her channel, after all. I personally love Jaclyn for her tutorials. A former MAC artist, she’s taught me tricks on contouring, given me inspiration for looks to create with my makeup, and has led me to discover some amazing and affordable brands of brushes, like Morphe and Sigma. Plus, she’s always sharing discount codes for a lot of the products she uses and loves. Oh, and there’s also the fact that she just partnered with Becca Cosmetics on a new highlighter that I am DYING for. It’s currently sitting in my shopping cart on Sephora.com and it looks AMAZING. I’ll share my thoughts if I pull the trigger! As an aside, she recently mentioned in one of her videos that she went up to the U.P. (i.e. Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where I originally hail from) for a family reunion, and I was all like, “Whoa, hold the phone – you know what the U.P. is, and you’ve actually been there?!” I totally want to know where she visited, but that’s a whole other thing.
UPDATE: I totally caved and ordered her highlighter. I cannot wait to try it out! You’ll be the first to hear my thoughts!
Angela Lanter – Hello Gorgeous
OK, last but certainly not least is Angela Lanter. I’ve been following her channel for a while now, and she also has a blog, Hello Gorgeous, where she posts tons of other content beyond makeup videos. I adore her for a few reasons. Firstly, she’s married to cutie patootie Matt Lanter, A.K.A. Liam Court from the 90210 series remake. So, sometimes he makes cameos on her social channels, particularly Snapchat. I mean, could he be any cuter?? But to get to the point, what I really love about Angela is the range of stuff she posts: from tutorials showing you how to achieve full-face looks to videos about specific techniques like highlighting and contouring or concealing dark circles—even videos showing you how to create over-the-top Halloween looks like a sexy vampire look I may try to recreate this Halloween. (I also thinks it’s super cute that all her videos begin with a kissy noise.) To top things off, the girl also has killer style and is always sharing her outfits on her website and Instagram – and more often than not, the stuff she wears is completely affordable.
So there you have it. I follow a ton more bloggers and YouTubers, both beauty-related and fashion-related, but as I mentioned, these three are my absolute faves. If you’ve never checked out any of these girls before and you do so based on my recommendation, let me know how you like them! And, obviously, I’m always looking for new people to follow – so share your favorite beauty YouTubers and bloggers in the comments below!
