Hey y’all! I’m venturing out onto a somewhat scary limb on the blog today…. Rather than write a lengthy post about my makeup haul from Hong Kong (and here you thought we were done with the Asian vacation-themed posts), I figured I’d let you hear my thoughts directly from my lips. That’s right: I filmed a vlog.
A couple of things about the video. First, my cat makes A LOT of cameos. I had the option of either allowing him in the room with me or listening to him cry at the door if I locked him out. But he’s pretty cute, and he ups the entertainment factor a bunch. If you watch the video only for one thing, it should be to see my adorable cat. Kidding. Kind of.
Second, I filmed this on my iPad, because the day I got this idea in my head, our video camera was nowhere to be found (and is still currently missing in action…eek!). I improvised, but it’s by no means awesome quality. And yes, I realize I cut off the top of my head. This is what happens when the hubs is traveling and you try to frame a shot by yourself … on an iPad.
Third, I cut out a section toward the end when I’m talking about the false lashes I bought … because, to be totally transparent, I was commenting on how I didn’t love them because they didn’t fit my eye quite right. Well, shortly after filming the video, I realized that it wasn’t the lashes that were wrong. It was my application of them—I put them on backwards! Oopsie! Now I actually love them a TON!
And finally, below is a list of all the products I talk about, as well as the ones I used for my makeup that day. For the Asian brands, I tried my best to find U.S. sources that sold the products, but most of them are based overseas. A few of them offer great deals on shipping to the U.S. – but you may have to wait a few weeks while they make their way over to you. And don’t freak out about the prices on one of the sites called Adam Beauty … they’re listed in Hong Kong dollars, which amounts to about 13 cents to one U.S. dollar.
Without further ado, check out my very first vlog below. If you guys want to see more of these, let me know what kind of stuff you’re interested in watching—makeup tutorials, makeup reviews, etc. And I promise I’ll up my game on the filming next time!
